Perhaps you noticed that you have in the menu on the right is a new section, titled “Skeptics reports.” It is an idea that originated when I did low carb diet. I spent enough time searching studies “truth” I confirmed or denied that diets high in fat and protein were unhealthy.
The truth is that most of the available information confirms this idea. However, I decided to push it a little more and turn to the sources, since that information was often vague and very general, obtained at low stem magazines, internet, etc. Furthermore, there was the odd dissenting voice (on the other hand common in any area that a deepening) of some standing and on the other hand, my curiosity needed more details to know the why and the how of all those claims.
What was my surprise to find that some of the most recent studies in prestigious medical journal in the world contradict many of the accepted paradigms in nutrition: In some cases, modifying the diet including fruits verdures and did not reduce cardiovascular risk. In others, higher cholesterol values entailed a longer life.
Well, I will share that information to anyone interested. Moreover, for the record I do not intend to stop anyone from listening to her doctor, I just want to promote critical and skeptical spirit and enhance that professional journalists and communicators “current it” a little more time to make claims of weight.
Completed section I will go slowly and try to include studies of other issues, if I find content of interest. Sadly and suddenly, all are in English, of course. For the “non-angloentendientes” lazy reading and academic and scientific (usually pretty boring, really), I include a brief summary-review of each.
One more thing to complete, I am not convinced much of Study skeptics. “Is any suggestions? I begin: “Reports breakers”, “Studies controversial” …?
