We know of any case or have been through it and usually require several days rest. Despite this, we must bear in mind that never presents serious complications.

Definitely, infectious mononucleosis is an infectious disease that was caused by a virus called Epstein Barr virus belonging to the family of herpes viruses. This virus characterized by displaying signs such as fever, headaches, muscle aches, fatigue, appetite and swollen lymph notorious. In some cases, but are less was presented a yellowing of the skin.

The symptoms of fever, swollen glands and spleen usually remain latent for 10 to 15 days but muscle fatigue and discomfort can last up to 3 months. However although the disease is benign in most cases have to be careful if you suspect that someone close has passed since the virus can be cleared up to 18 months after infection occurs.

This diagnosis is usually very fast and usually just a simple test and description of symptoms. In some cases, it may require to prove the existence of a blood virus.

There is no specific treatment for this type of treatment is to be maintained on bed rest, drinking lots of fluids, take ibuprofen, aspirin or paracetamol for fever and if found to have tonsillitis should take an antibiotic. As always discussed, you should see your doctor immediately if these symptoms are, because it can a simple viral illness or something more serious.

A few reports ago, we began a brief series of reports about various sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). We talked about their definitions, their causes and symptoms to finally talk about their treatment and prevention methods most common and effective.

In this article, we will talk about a disease called tricomoniasis. It is not sexually transmitted disease better known as syphilis or gonorrhea for example, but no less popular in their incidence. Let’s start!

What is Tricomiasis?

As we said above, the Tricomiasis is a sexually transmitted disease. The disease equally affects both men and women, but often do not manifest symptoms depending on sex.

The bacteria causing this disease is called Tricomonas vaginalis. In most cases, originates and grown in the vagina, but may also be located in the urethra in male cases.

Most cases in which men are infected, make the contact with the vagina, making it essential to have sex with one partner and always take preventative measures, of course.

What are the symptoms of tricomoniasis?

One of the most common problems of this disease is that most of the time, symptoms do not manifest visibly or through feelings, making diagnosis difficult without testing and surveys.

The symptoms are:

. Burning with urination

. Burning after ejaculation

. Secretions

. Irritation in both the penis and in the vulva

. Yellow, frothy vaginal discharge

. Itching

. Pain in lower abdomen

How to Treat Tricomoniasis?

Generally, the disease is treated by administering oral doses. Depending on the progress of the disease, prescribe different doses, although it is common to exceed a single dose.

As with many other sexually transmitted diseases will be analyzed not only the patient consultant, but also your partner as medical protocol.

Among the cuts of meat is best to eat lean cuts and low in fat as chicken, rabbit or turkey.

It is extremely important to include dietary fiber on the menu, this is usually obtained from vegetable and fruit, also cereals and legumes help promote intestinal transit, not to mention eating at least two liters of water daily, reducing the consumption of coffee, alcohol and sugary drinks.

In his studies of fermentation, Pasteur had observed a marked decrease in glucose consumption as he passed in an anaerobic environment to another with an abundant supply of oxygen. In other words, the presence of oxygen inhibits the use of Pasteur glucose. The phenomenon, called the Pasteur Effect, remained without a satisfactory explanation for long. Today, knowledge about allosteric regulation of enzymes can explain the mechanisms that adjust the glycolytic activity to the energy needs of cells.

The production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) from glucose is 19 times greater when oxygen is available when it is lacking. Under anaerobic conditions is necessary to consume more glucose, for a given yield of ATP. The Pasteur effect is explained by the following:

1. Increases in aerobic ATP production and citrate, which inhibit the formation of phosphofructokinase 1.

2. The decreased activity of phosphokinase 1 causes accumulation of metabolites earlier stages, including glucose 6-phosphate. This substance inhibits hexokinase activity. These feedback effects contribute to decrease the glycolytic activity in the presence of oxygen.

Cancer cells exhibit a noticeable difference with normal cells in terms of glucose utilization. Neoplastic cells aerobically consume less oxygen and more glucose than normal cells. Much of the glucose in cancer cells becomes lactate, even when available good supply of oxygen. The aerobic lactate formation is called aerobic glycolysis.
