Today’s topic is the cost of being neurotic.
In a Dutch study found that people with higher degree of neurosis cost the company $12.32 a day while a normal person only costs $3 a day. This we were able to establish considering the substance abuse, absenteeism from work, somatic complaints, medical assistance, among other factors.
It’s amazing the cost of mental health on society, in a past post had only 2% of resources allocated to health were for psychological disorder. Based on these data we can see that it is really small compared to the benefits it could bring us a greater investment in this area.
For those who are leaders, to take into account that employees will cost much less if they are happy and feel good, have fewer failures and be more productive. If you are a worker begins by being content and happy in your work in this way to spend less, one way to do this is to take a psychological therapy in a preventive way (something we should all do).

You may have noticed the amount of news generated in the last few months of breastfeeding! And, recently, the Director General of Public Health released a report U.S. Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding (Call to Action in Support of Breastfeeding), detailing how we can support mothers who choose to breastfeed their children. In addition, the report Healthy People 2020 (Healthy People 2020) has increased the expectations for both mothers and babies in this regard.

We know that most mothers want to breastfeed their babies – recent data show that 82% of mothers in Massachusetts began breast-feeding their children. But the truth is that the number of mothers who continue breastfeeding is drastically reduced in the months after delivery. Within two months, only 47% of children are exclusively breastfed, which means you eat only breast milk and consumes no formula milk.
As many mothers can attest, this surprising change has much to do with the lack of support that exists for nursing mothers. The fact that many mothers start breast-feeding shows that they know is a good choice. However, many mothers may also add that breastfeeding is not easy at first. Sometimes the lack of support can be a mother to question whether it can proceed. Read the rest of this entry »

The power of lived experience is what makes the wisdom and memories of older adults are supportive and are both at times painful. Some parents complain that their grandparents rather than help hinder and spoil the child, which ultimately will be detrimental to social development. When this happens, let them do the right thing in private is to avoid hurting his feelings and never in front of the grandchild.
He can explain that if you live surrounded by people who delight in his slightest wish, you run the risk of isolated, enclosed in a medium if either at the moment gives you pleasure in the long run make him a misfit be and dependent, unable to resolve on its own even their most basic needs. The spoiled child, overprotected, you’ll be devastated when he’s away from loved ones will always ask for help and depend on others to tackling the problems presented to it in life.
Grandparents are a vital link in the family continuity. They can convey their grandchildren family traditions and expectations, as well as love and care. Our culture and our values are reported often more easily through the grandparents to parents, because the role of the past is filled with the rigors of daily life. Children tend to listen and adapt more easily to the elderly. However, by offering this continuity, they should remember that children assimilate more through imitation of advice. People are quick to give advice to expectant mothers – cut down on caffeine, avoid alcohol, take prenatal vitamins – yet there’s one topic that is often missing from the conversation. Gestational diabetes, a type of diabetes that occurs only during pregnancy, can cause high blood sugar levels that can threaten the health of your unborn baby. According to the American Diabetes Association, this condition affects about 135,000 pregnant women in the U.S. each year.
Gestational diabetes is more likely to occur in women who:
- are older than 25 years
- are overweight
- had gestational diabetes before
- had a very large baby (over 9 pounds)
- have a family history of diabetes
- are Native American, Asian, Hispanic, African American, or Pacific Islander
- have polycystic ovary syndrome
But there’s good news. You can manage gestational diabetes by eating healthy foods, exercising regularly and, if necessary, taking medication. Taking good care of yourself can help ensure a healthy pregnancy for you and a healthy start for your baby.
Women with a history of gestational diabetes have a much higher risk of developing diabetes during the 5 to 10 years after they deliver. If you had gestational diabetes, it is important to be tested 6 to 12 weeks after the baby is born, and at least every 3 years after that. Women may be able to prevent getting gestational or type 2 diabetes in the future by reaching and maintaining a healthy weight, eating healthy foods, and getting regular physical activity.
